During Wednesday’s Sedgwick County Commission meeting, Chairman Pete Meitzner commented on the on-going situation in Israel:
"Just want to take a moment to personally mention the senseless attacks that have taken place in Israel and the recent acts of violence have caused immense pain and suffering. My personal heartfelt condolences go out to all of the people of the families affected by this during this difficult time. Every loss of life has been tragic. My hope that a lasting and a just peace can be achieved in the region and bring this tragic...end to this conflict," the Chairman said.
In other news, county leaders have accepted a $100 thousand grant from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) to strengthen efforts at the county level.
The Sedgwick County Health Department houses Medical Reserve Corps Unit #92, which is made up of medical and nonmedical community members. The MRC volunteers help the health department and the county at events and in emergency situations.
The grant funding runs through June 30, 2025.
