There were 10 revisions to JIAC Policy 8.810, drafted this past summer based on the Community Task Force recommendations in response to the death of 17-year-old Cedric Lofton in September 2021.

One of the revisions prohibits a youth from restrained while in a holding room. It also established limits on the use of the prone restraint and specifies only authorized holds, transitions and maneuvers from training may be used.

The revisions will now be submitted to the Kansas Department of Corrections for final approval.
