Sedgwick County Commissioners get a look at the County Manager's proposed budget for the coming year today (Tuesday). Commission Chair Pete Meitzner tells KNSS News the commissioners have already been offering their input on the spending plan, "there's been a lot of conversations and a lot of reviews." There has also been input from the public. Meitzner says "I don't expect any big surprises."
Meitzner says the total spending plan will be around a half billion dollars, but the commissioners have no control over most of that money, which is spent by state and federal mandates. The County only controls about $100 million.
Meitzner says Sedgwick County is sitting on $50 million in unclaimed property. To find out if that property is yours, go to kansascash.ks.gov.
Meitzner commented during his weekly chat with Steve and Ted in the Morning on KNSS.
