Wednesday's meeting will be the final meeting of the year for the Sedgwick County Commission. Chair Pete Meitzner tells KNSS News the board members will adopt their state legislative platform. He says it's four or five issues that the commission feels are important to south central Kansas. Meitzner says the commission "we have pretty good luck with that" and "we just ask for reasonable support on various issues".
An independent audit of Sedgwick County's emergency dispatch operation was prompted by a fire union complaint that a fatal fire was not handled properly. Meitzner says the audit will review the entire emergency call in question. He says "we're supporting a third-party, independent investigation".
Meitzner also says planning for a new state physciatric hospital in the Wichita area is moving forward.
Meitzner commented during his weekly appearance on the Steve and Ted in the Morning Show on KNSS.
