A Sedgwick County firefighter was injured, attempting to rescue a dog from an icy pond.
It happened around 3:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon in the 14,000 block of Whitewood, near Central and 143rd east.
Division Chief Jeremy Whitney said the firefighter injured his shoulder when he fell into the water from a raft that was caught by the ice.
"The firefighter was transported to Wesley Medical Center, code green, with minor injuries," said Chief Whitney.
The firefighters was pulled from the water by another crew member. The dog was also successfully extracted from the pond.
