Bob Lutz to step down next year as head of Wichita youth baseball's League 42

Bob Lutz

Wichita's 'League 42'

KFH-Radio

Wichita's youth baseball 'League 42' founder & executive director Bob Lutz has announced he'll be stepping down as head of the organization at the end of the year 2027.

Lutz, 71, will be leaving League 42 after more than 14 years at the helm.

Lutz was a long-time sports co-host of "The Drive" on KFH-radio, 97.5 FM and 1240 AM; he said it's nearing time for League 42 to move forward with a new voice.

League 42, based at McAdams Park in N. Wichita, has made baseball accessible and affordable for more than 3,000 youngsters over the years; the youth baseball league uses community donations to pay for uniforms and equipment for every player, and it now has off-the-field academic and educational components as well.

With an annual budget approaching $500,000, Lutz asks that local residents continue to contribute financially and donate equipment to keep the league moving forward.

Earlier this year, Lutz faced some criticism after a man found to have been a sex offender was allowed to coach; this led to changes in league policies, including moving the background screening process to a third party.
