The Sedgwick County Jail has removed all hot pots following an attack on a detention deputy
The removal comes after an inmate threw scalding water on a detention deputy last week, leaving him with second and third-degree burns.
The sheriff's office said inmates have traditionally had access to hot water for preparing coffee, tea, and food items like Ramen noodles.
As of now, inmates will still have access to heated water through tap systems, but personal or common hot pots will no longer be permitted.
