Sedgwick County has put up "earnest money" on a building at Second and Water in downtown Wichita ... as a possible new home for the county's administrative offices. County Commission Chair Pete Meitzner says the property will be inspected, to make sure it is suitable for the county's needs. He says representatives from the county's eight departments will visit the site, along with outside companies to look at the roof, the elevators, and windows to "check out the bones of he building".
At Wednesday's meeting, the County Commission will receive an update on the American Rescue Plan Act, directing federal grant money to pandemic recovery projects. Meitzner says the county began with over 100 million dollars, and has about nine million dollars left to earmark for projects by the end of 2024.
