The audit from the independent certified public accounting firm of BKD, LLC revealed a "clean and unmodified opinion,” meaning no issues or discrepancies. The county is in a strong, financial position at this time.
County Manager Tom Stolz says the finance department was awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its 2020 audit report. The county has applied for recognition for the 2021 report as well.
State law and other federal requirements require an audit of the county's finances annually by an independent accounting firm.
