A variety of road, bridge and facilities projects were approved by the Sedgwick County Commission on Wednesday.
The county will reconstruct a half-mile of 135th Street West, located north of 53rd Street, and will construct shoulders on Ridge Road from 69th Street to 85th Street North. The total cost: $3.75 million.
Three bridges will be addressed. The first is on 71st Street South between 119th Street and 135th Street West; also on 151st Street West between 101st Street and 109th Street North, and on Tracy Street between 13th Street South and Diagonal. The price tag: $3.1 million.
Finally, the county plans to build or reconstruct a Juvenile Services Building for Corrections, a Salt Storage Building for Public Works East Yard, and the Sheriff ADF Kitchen. In all, these projects total over $24 million.
Several financing methods will be used to pay for these projects, including bonds and local sales tax.
