UPDATE: Wichita Police arrested an 18-year-old man Saturday in connection with a shooting that injured a 14-year-old boy in north Wichita.
Just before 6 Friday evening, officers responded to a gunshot detection in the 2600 block of N. Park Place. Police learned that the suspects had followed the victims and fired multiple rounds into their vehicle, striking a 14-year-old boy in the shoulder. He was taken by private vehicle to a local hospital, treated and later released.
Cameras and Flock automated license plate reader technology identified a vehicle believed to be involved in the shooting. That vehicle was later located and the 18-year-old driver was taken into custody. After questioning, he was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on suspicion of aggravated battery and criminal discharge of a firearm into an occupied vehicle. Our partners at 12 News have identified the suspect as Orlando Garza.
Investigators also issued a felony pickup order for a second 18-year-old man believed to be involved in the shooting as well.
ORIGINAL STORY: Wichita Police are investigating a shooting Friday evening in north Wichita.
Around 6 p.m., officers responded to a gunshot detection in the area of 25th Street North and Wellington Place.
Shortly afterwards, a teenage boy arrived at a local hospital suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
No arrests have been made in the case.
