The suspect, 16, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder in the death of Trenjvious Hutton, 14.  Hutton was involved in an ongoing dispute at the shopping mall with people he knew.
According to police, the suspect pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots, striking Hutton.

During Tuesday’s hearing, a judge determined that the suspect, who has no criminal record or priors, would remain in custody because of a threat posed to others.  The judge did not make a determination if the teen would be charged as an adult.  But, it remains an option.

The suspect is being held at the Sedgwick County Juvenile Detention Facility.
