The Emergency Accident Reporting Plan, or EARP, is in effect for the city of Wichita. If you are involved in an accident and no one is injured, there is no DUI and the vehicles can be driven, you can make a report at a QT or online.

Wichita road crews have been treating routes since about 4:45 a.m., and will continue through the day. Temps will continue to be dangerously low and will slow the melting of snow from snow routes.

Some of the reports thus far include:

Near Oxford (Cowley County): 4.5"
Near Winfield (Cowley County): 3.3"
Near El Dorado: 3.0"
Towanda: 2.7"
Wichita: 1.5" - 2"
Clearwater: 1.1"

In addition to the slippery travel, wind chills are dangerously cold. Current wind chills over south central Kansas are between 13 and 20 degrees below zero. Readings are forecast to get worse: around 30 degrees below zero overnight. A wind chill warning is in effect from 6 tonight until Noon Tuesday.

If you must travel, please use caution, drive slowly and make sure you are prepared for the wintry weather.
