The Sedgwick County Commission will talk about solar energy at Wednesday's meeting. Commission Chair Pete Meitzner tells KNSS News several Kansas counties have tackled the issue, which Meitzner calls "contentious." He says the county already voted to ban wind farms because there are 17 airports and air strips in Sedgwick County, and there's no safe place to put the turbines.
Governor Kelly has appointed a 14-member advisory board to help plan a 50-bed mental health facility in south central Kansas. Sedgwick County Commissioner Sarah Lopez and County Manager Tom Stolz will serve on the board. Meitzner says there many details to be considered.
Meitzner commented during his weekly appearance on the Steve and Ted in the Morning Show on KNSS.
