The National Weather Service's Severe Weather Preparedness week is from March 4-8.
As a part of the week, Sedgwick County Emergency Management will be participating in a statewide tornado drill today. The sirens will sound for five minutes starting at 11 a.m.
The Sedgwick County Government is urging everyone to take this opportunity to review their severe weather plans, talk to employees, and, if possible, use the Wednesday test as a reason to conduct your own internal tornado drill.
Make sure you have a battery operated radio ready and tune it to KNSS as we will provide emergency weather information again this season. KNSS has been providing severe weather broadcasts for over 25 years, and has been awarded Best Severe Weather Coverage for Large Market Radio, recognized by the Kansas Association of Broadcasters.
