Thunderstorms moving through the Wichita area Friday night caused wind damage and the lightning delayed many high school football games.

An 89-mph wind gust was measured at Jabara Airport, on the city's northeast side. Tree limbs were reported down at Cross Creek Apartments, east of K-96 and Woodlawn.

High winds also took down power lines in Newton and 1,700 customers lost power. Power lines were downed north of El Dorado, in Butler County as well.
