Strong storms made their way across central and eastern Kansas Tuesday. Heavy rain and strong winds affected parts of Wichita, downing tree limbs and knocking out power to thousands of Evergy customers.
At one point over 23,000 customers were without power in the Wichita area, with winds of up to 70 mph reported in parts of the city. At least 15 lines down across the county were also downed according to Sedgwick County officials.
As the storms moved through, the City of Augusta reported wind gusts of 60 to 65 mph and downed power lines.
