A nearly $3.4 million surfacing of a section of U.S. 54/400 in Butler County is expected to start soon.
The Kansas Department of Transportation project involves an ultra-thin bonded asphalt surfacing on U.S. 54 from 159th Street to the west city limits of Augusta, except for concrete pavement at Andover Road. The length is almost 9 miles.
The work is expected to begin around Monday, June 19, and be completed by the end of August.
During the work, motorists can expect single lane closures and reduced speeds; traffic will remain open in both directions.
Pearson Construction, of Wichita, is the prime contractor for the $3,355,053 project.
The map below shows the approximate project location, outlined in red.
