A QuikTrip security guard remains in critical condition after he was shot while dealing with a disruptive person; police have arrested a suspect.
The incident happened Wednesday night, at the Murdock & Broadway store downtown. Officers found the 39-year-old guard in the alley just across the street from the store.
The victim had a gunshot wound to his upper body.
Police say 41-year-old Laroy West of Wichita has been arrested on charges of attempted first-degree murder and criminal possession of a firearm. On Thursday evening a police lieutenant observed West near 19th & Broadway, where he was taken into custody.
West has multiple previous felony convictions. The case will be presented to District Attorney's office.
