Got a pesky cough and a runny nose? Could be a virus, as the cold and flu season starts cranking up. Sedgwick County Health Director Adrienne Byrne tells KNSS News all respiratory viruses are increasing in Sedgwick County, though the numbers are still low. But the holidays and the holiday shopping season bring more human contact, and that means more illness. Byrne says cases will likely increase through mid January. She reminds us to cover our cough and wash our hands frequently.
Do you have a cold virus, flu, or something else? Byrne says "it's hard to know what you have." She reminds us that eight free home COVID tests are available to you, through the web site covidtest.gov. Byrne says it's not too late to get a flu shot, COVID vaccination, or the new RSV shot for older folks.
