Two people have died in traffic accidents about five hours apart Monday morning in the Wichita area, both near the 55th Street South corridor.
The first fatal crash occurred at about 7:00 a.m. Monday at Kansas Highway 15 & 55th South. A pickup truck heading west ran a stop sign, and was hit by a south-bound SUV, which then went into a ditch. The driver in the pickup who ran the stop sign died; the driver of the SUV was injured, and is expected to survive.
The second deadly crash happened late Monday morning south of Wichita, in the 5800 block of S. Broadway. This accident also resulted in one victim who has died; the victim was a 62-year-old man who suffered a medical condition, leading to the fatal wreck.
