Water on the agenda at Wichita City Council meeting

Brandon Whipple
KNSS NEWS

At Tuesday's meeting, the Wichita City Council will look at spending money to prepare for the new water treatment plant, under construction in northwest Wichita. Mayor Brandon Whipple tells KNSS News there is a proposal to spend $800,000 for lab equipment, and $1.5 million for rehabilitation of the pipeline from Cheney Reservoir. Whipple says there is also a plan to spend $250,000 to rehabilitate six storm water pump stations.

The city council will consider a proposal to build a new spec warehouse. Mayor Whipple says the City grants tax breaks to build these warehouses. Five such warehouses have already been built. Whipple says it's a "turn key" operation for businesses, it brings jobs to the city, and the City's seen "incredible success" with the program.

Whipple commented during Mondays with the Mayor on the Steve and Ted in the Morning Show on KNSS.
