
During the pandemic, Americans have been turning to tacos for comfort. A TOP Data study has revealed that consumption of tacos has increased by 12.8% during the pandemic, despite the fact that a surprising 23% of Americans don’t eat tacos at all.
What have the people of Kansas been eating? The TOP Data report revealed that Taco John's has been Kansas' favorite taco chain during the pandemic; one in five Americans eat on average at least one taco per day.
More than 21% of Survey respondents eat two dozen or more tacos in a month; 42% of respondents said they eat between 4-12 tacos per month, and 5% said they consume at least 64 tacos monthly.
The study analyzed the year-on-year change in visits to determine the taco restaurant of choice in each state. Taco Bell was the overwhelming victor, winning the popularity contest across 22 states, with Del Taco claiming the top spot in eight states and Moe’s in seven.
Taco John's was the leader in five states, including Kansas, Nebraska, Montana, Illinois, and Tennessee.
After Taco John's in Kansas were Taco Bell at #2, Chipotle #3, and Qdoba Mexican Eats in 4th.
Moe's was #1 in Oklahoma, Taco Bell took the top spot in Missouri, and Del Taco was #1 in Colorado.
TOP Data used a combination of GPS tracking data at the largest taco restaurant chains and a survey of 1,000 Americans.
