COVID-19 booster shots are available in Sedgwick County for kids ages 5 and older.

Stephanie Birmingham, COVID Public Information Officer, said the county won't have the vaccine until October 27. However, there are other places to find it, such as in some local pharmacies and clinics. She recommended visiting vaccines.gov to find a location near you.
To receive the bivalent booster, the child must have one of the primary series of COVID vaccinations and must wait until after 2 months from the previous shot, whether it's the primary vaccine or a booster.
Bivalent means the vaccine targets the original coronavirus as well as the BA.4 and BA.5 Omicron variants.
The booster is not yet available for children ages 6 months to 4 years of age.
Finally, the current transmission rate of COVID is reported as low in Sedgwick County. Officials are still encouraging residents to get the COVID vaccination as less than 55% of county residents are fully vaccinated.
