Overall, Wichita recorded triple-digit heat each afternoon from August 7th to the 26th, a span of 20 days -- also an all-time record in Wichita history.
Wichita's record heat that day was still seven degrees shy of the all-time record for Kansas of 121 degrees, records set earlier that summer in Fredonia & Alton.
Then, after Wichita's hottest day, the overnight low temperature only got down to 86 degrees -- the warmest low temp in Wichita history.
