The Wichita City Council has approved projects that will benefit a park in northwest Wichita and also in the downtown area.
The council approved funding for improvements to the Pracht Wetlands Park, located just east of 29th Street North and Maize Road. The project will extend the existing southern elevated boardwalk and associated wildlife blind, along with artwork.
Including the $235,000 approved in June, the total budget for the third phase of work is $1.7 million, funded by general obligation bonds.
The council also approved funding for downtown restroom facilities and hydration stations. The facilities will be stationed at A. Price Woodard Park and Naftzger Park and like the rest of the park system, the facilities will have a 260-day season. The city will fund the projects by reallocating park funds.
