The Wichita City Council received recommendations from the city’s ethics advisory board regarding work on the city’s ethics policies.
The board is currently staffed by the Public Policy and Management Center at Wichita State. The city hired PPMC in December of 2022. The board has met 3 times to develop and discuss policy issues, including board member qualifications, the selection of an ethics officer, and procedures needed for the public to file a valid ethics violation complaint.
Kathy Sexton with PPMC said a valid complaint can’t be an email or letter, but submitted through a complaint form provided on the city's web site.
Some of the board’s next steps include scheduling policy revisions for a future council meeting, completing current ethics investigations, updating the complaint form and web presence, and creating training videos.
