After 8 months of work by city of Wichita staff and the City Council, the 2026 budget and the 10-year capital improvement program were approved Tuesday morning.
The 2026 budget totals $776 million and is highlighted by the city’s first mill levy reduction in over 30 years.
The 10-year CIP is worth nearly $3.05 billion. It includes $2 million for renovations to the first floor of the old central library building, to be used for corporate meeting space and wedding receptions.
