Residents who participated in a city of Wichita survey believe city government performance showed significant improvement from 2023.
Welcoming resident involvement and informing residents about issues facing the community were two categories that showed year over year improvement.
The survey results will help the city form their 2026 budget. The survey revealed that nine out of ten residents said the city should focus on safety concerns, like fire services. They added that cost of living is a strength, but were still concerned about the economy overall.
Elizabeth Goltry with the city said budget discussions are ahead in the next four city workshops, with a pivotal month coming in May with presentations at District Advisory boards and a rollout of the online budget simulator.
The budget will be presented in mid-July, with several public hearings before adoption in late August.
