At Tuesday's meeting, the Wichita City Council will discuss the City's share of funding for a proposed temporary winter homeless shelter at 21st and Grove, in northeast Wichita. The facility would have 250 beds and serve three meals a day. Mayor Brandon Whipple tells KNSS News it could be a "home run," sheltering people during cold snaps and allowing social workers to help with homeless people's problems and concerns.
Whipple says funding will come from federal grants to deal with COVID pandemic relief.
The city council will discuss a proposal to spend $160,000 for maintenance on the city's 13 splash pads. The mayor says the splash parks are "cool" and "we need to keep them up to par" because future maintenance will be more expensive.
Whipple commented during Mondays with the Mayor, on the Steve and Ted in the Morning Show on KNSS.
