The closing was because of staff shortages due to COVID, and they have temporarily suspended their COVID test collection service.

Tonya Witherspoon, executive director of the MDL, says she is unsure when test collection will reopen.

Health officials recommend that if you’re not feeling well and want to be tested for COVID-19, you should visit your county health department or the Kansas Department of Health and Environment’s website for testing locations.

Meanwhile, the MDL website will be updated with reopening information when it becomes available.
