One person is dead and one is critically injured following a crash early Thursday on eastbound Kellogg near downtown Wichita. The crash happened near the Washington Street exit.

Bystanders stopped to give aid to the two people, who are in their 20s. The cause of the crash is not known.

Eastbound Kellogg was closed from Seneca to Washington for about six hours. It reopened to traffic just after 7 a.m.

Wichita Police has identified 21-year-old Legend Johnson of Wichita as the victim of a fatal accident that occurred overnight.

Shortly after midnight, WPD Officers responded to a single-vehicle accident in the area of Kellogg and Washington. When they arrived, they located a vehicle that had rolled over, ejecting two occupants. Johnson was transported to an area hospital where she later died.

25-year-old Tony Porter attempted to flee the scene but was taken into custody by officers. During the investigation, Porter became uncooperative and spat on an officer. Porter was then transported to the Sedgwick County Adult Detention Facility and booked on one charge of Simple Battery of a Law Enforcement Officer.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing. It is believed that alcohol and speed were contributing factors.
