The Wichita City Council awarded $6.3 million in workforce and small business development grants to local non-profits and educational organizations.
Back in December, the council approved $10 million from the ARPA funding to go to this cause. A few of the notable applicants were WSU Tech, Heartspring and Catholic Charities.
Since approximately $3.6 million remains from the original allocation, the city will initiate a second round of grants. Applications are due by May 4 and the city will announce the awards in June.
The city was awarded a total of $72.4 million in ARPA funding, to help alleviate the negative economic impacts associated with the pandemic.
