At Tuesday's meeting the Wichita City Council will consider a resolution supporting a state owned and operated mental health hospital in the Sedgwick County region. Wichita Mayor Brandon Whipple tells KNSS News a Kansas legislative study indicates the state needs about 200 additional beds to deal with growing mental health needs. The mayor says that hospital should be located in the Wichita area.
The council will consider issuing nearly nine million dollars in industrial revenue bonds for Corterra Health Care Ventures. The company plans to build a geriatric behavioral health hospital in northwest Wichita.
Whipple commented during Mondays with the Mayor ... on the Steve and Ted in the Morning Show on KNSS.
