Wichita Police arrested 33-year-old Scott Cabrales of Wichita on charges of aggravated battery, driving under the influence, and no proof of insurance. The arrest stems from an injury accident that fatally injured 80-year-old Frankie Baxter of Wichita.
At approximately 4:20 p.m. on Monday, officers responded to an injury accident with a driver pinned at Maple and Martinson. Upon arrival, officer's located Baxter pinned inside of a vehicle. She was removed from the vehicle with the assistance of the Wichita Fire Department and pronounced deceased on the scene.
The investigation revealed that Baxter was driving a blue 2015 Hyundai Tucson northbound on Elizabeth. She turned to go eastbound on Maple. Cabrales was driving a gold 2008 Mazda Six eastbound on Maple at a high rate of speed and believed to be under the influence of alcohol. Cabrales struck the rear driver's side of the Hyundai, causing the vehicle to strike the curb and a tree.
Cabrales was transported to an area hospital for medical treatment of minor injuries and then booked into jail.
