A new website has been launched by Wichita Police that allows anyone to track the Department's drone usage city-wide. The site is called the Interactive Drone Transparency Dashboard.

Anyone can access the site to view a map of the last 25 flights taken by WPD drones, along with details about the flight data, including the reasons for each flight. WPD said the site’s purpose is to enhance public safety and demonstrate the department’s commitment to operational transparency.

The department said they started using drones in July 2024 and since have purchased 10 to use during crime investigations and pursuits. Police Chief Joe Sullivan says the drones are key tools that help officers respond more efficiently to emergencies while reducing risk for everyone involved.
