A Wichita Police detective has been placed on paid administrative leave, following DUI charges.

At approximately 11:50 Friday night, Wichita Police responded to a non-injury accident at Douglas and Waco involving a car and a city of Wichita Q-Line bus.

Officers said the driver of the car, off-duty Detective MaryAnna Hoyt, showed signs of impairment. For transparency purposes, the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office was called to investigate and booked her for DUI.

There was minor damage to the city bus but no injuries to the bus driver.

Police say Hoyt has been a detective with the department for 15 years and was assigned to the Investigation Division. There will be an internal investigation after the sheriff's office completes their investigation.
