The Wichita Police Department (WPD) has arrested a suspect in the weekend hit and run that critically injured a woman.
Bricetin Wedel, 18, of Wichita has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated battery and two counts of hit and run.
At approximately 9:20 p.m. on Saturday, officers responded to a hit-and-run injury accident at Douglas and Greenwood. They found a woman, 26, with critical injuries. She was taken to an area hospital for medical treatment.
The investigation revealed the woman was crossing the street, leaving a business in the 100 block of South Greenwood, and was struck by a newer white sedan traveling north on Greenwood. It is believed the sedan was traveling at a high rate of speed. The run vehicle was found on Sunday unoccupied at a hotel at 36th and Rock Road.
On Saturday, officers contacted the suspect at the Patrol South police station regarding the hit and run, and he subsequently was arrested.
The investigation is ongoing, and the case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's Office.
