The Wichita Board of Education took steps to ensure fuel for student transportation. At issue is a process of providing both diesel and unleaded fuels for busses throughout the district.
Division Director of Operations Fabian Armendariz informed the board about some recent problems. He says the challenge is getting suppliers to provide them with fuel on time. "A couple times this school year, for unleaded, we've actually had to send our buses to a go fuel at a gas station," Armendariz said.
The board approved a delivery plan, based on a percentage mark up from the Oil Price Information Service, from May 1st, until July 31st, which is not to exceed $750,000 for fuel consumption.
