Wichita School Board approves increase in school lunch prices

The Wichita School Board has approved an increase in school lunch prices during thier Monday meeting. The board approved the increase without discussion.

The district cites an increase in the cost of food and supplies by approximately 10% in the past year. Food and supply prices are expected to continue to increase at least through the first quarter of 2024.

The following meal price increase will begin July 1, 2023:

Elementary school student lunch price will go from $2.60 to $2.70

Middle school student lunch price will increase from $2.75 to $2.85

High school student lunch price that was $2.90 will increase to $3.00

Adult lunch price go from $4.35 to $4.80

Adult breakfast price will increase from $2.50 to $2.70.

The Universal Free Breakfast Program will continue to be available for all students, regardless of household size and income for the 2023-24 school year.
