
The City of Wichita will not sign a lease agreement to build a hotel north of Eisenhower National Airport.
Scot Rigby with the city says thanks to outstanding financial liabilities and impending litigation with Airport Hotel, LLC, the city will not proceed working with the company.
Vice Mayor Brandon Johnson thanked city staff for their due diligence.
The proposed hotel was slated to be built at 1523 S. Ridge Road.
In other news, the council approved nearly $5 million for two projects related to the city's water supply. A well rehabilitation project at the Equus Beds Aquifer will take place this year. The city will also repair sections of the water supply line from the wells and from Cheney Lake. Neither project will impact the city's current water rates.
The council approved $150 thousand in funding bike and pedestrian accommodations. With plans for pavement resurfacing on First and Second Streets at I-135, the city plans to change lane paths and add bike paths in that area.
