Wichita teen charged with National Firearms Act violations

A federal grand jury in Wichita returned an indictment charging a Wichita man with one count of making a firearm in violation of the National Firearms Act, and one count of possession of an unregistered firearm in violation of the National Firearms Act.

According to court documents, 19-year-old Trenton Espinoza is accused of modifying an Anderson Manufacturing rifle to an overall length of less than 26 inches, and to a barrel length of less than 16 inches.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) is investigating the case.

Among other indictments:
36-year-old Adonis Wade Freeman and 58-year-old Kristie Griffin, both of Kechi, were indicted on one count of money laundering conspiracy and one count of using or maintaining a drug premises. Freeman was also indicted on two counts possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, one count of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and 10 counts of money laundering.

IRS-Criminal Investigation, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Wichita Police Department, Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) are investigating the case.
