The initial work began in November 2017, using public input to develop specific management and operational strategies to meet their goals. Work on the plan was halted in Spring 2020 as the pandemic began.

The city signed a $69 thousand agreement with Walker Consultants, who are experts on parking.

Renewed work on the plan will begin in July, using input from the recently appointed steering committee, the Wichita Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board, and several other groups. The final plan will be presented to the city council in November or December.
