The city of Wichita received its 2021 annual comprehensive financial report.

The public accounting firm of Eide Bailly presented the report to the Wichita City Council Tuesday morning. The firm’s first responsibility was to provide assurance that the city’s financial statements were correct. In that report, the firm reported no findings.
The second part, called the single audit, focused on the city’s use of WIFIA funding for the northwest water treatment facility project. Eide Bailly says the city failed to file two reports on time and city staff self-reported the issue to auditors.
The 336-page report can be found on the city's website.
Meanwhile, a downtown Wichita park will soon undergo more changes.
The council approved budget changes for the Chester I. Lewis Reflection Park renovations. The original budget was $1.3 million, with $100 thousand of it slated for artwork. The city council approved up to $805 thousand for the artwork, with $250 thousand in private donations secured. More robust glasswork that has a 50-year life span instead of 10, will be used in the project.
The park is at the entryway of the new Kansas College of Osteopathic Medicine, which started classes Monday. The first phase of the renovations was finished on July 1. The artwork should be completed by November.
