Police have arrested a 34-year-old Wichita woman on a charge of First Degree Murder. This comes after a homicide Tuesday east of Harry & Rock in the southeast part of the city.
At about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers were called to what was believed to be a shooting in the 7800 block of E. Harry. Officers located a man in the alley behind a business with apparent trauma to his body. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene. He's been identified as 49-year-old Hung Nguyen of Wichita.
Through the investigation, officers learned that a passerby discovered Nguyen's body and called 911, fearing he'd been shot. Officers learned that Nguyen had been seen with a woman earlier in the day. Officers contacted the woman, taking her into custody. The investigation revealed that Nguyen had been stabbed. It's believed the two were strangers, and that the suspect stabbed Nguyen after he upset her.
The suspect has a criminal history for various crimes committed in Texas. She was recently released from prison in Texas on previous arson-related charges. The case in Wichita will be presented to the District Attorney's office.
