Police are investigating a shooting that injured a 72-year-old Wichita woman.
Just after 7 p.m. Saturday, officers were called to the 200 block of South Minneapolis, where they found a woman inside a residence with a gunshot wound to her face. The firearm used was found in the residence by officers. She was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Police say the victim was with her 11-year-old great-nephew, who showed her a gun. The firearm discharged, striking her in the face. The great-nephew left the scene and was located at his home in the 1800 block of East English and was taken into custody without incident. The firearm found was reported stolen.
