WPD arrests suspect in fatal shooting on north Hydraulic

The Wichita Police Department has made an arrest in connection with a fatal shooting that killed 56-year-old Darnell Guiden of Wichita. According to police; after 7:30 p.m. on March 2nd, officers responded to a shooting outside a business in the 1300 block of North Hydraulic. The suspect called 911 before officers arrived and reported that he had shot an individual.

Officers located Guiden in the parking lot of the business inside a pickup truck. EMS transported him to a local hospital, where medical staff pronounced him dead just before 8 p.m.

The suspect, who police only identified as a 40-year-old Wichita man, had previously been banned from the business after a previous incident. Officers found that suspect, who had remained at the scene, and he was taken into custody without incident. He was later booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on charges of first-degree premeditated murder and criminal discharge of a firearm.
