Sedgwick County Commissioners unanimously approved a zoning change request at the southwest corner of Kellogg and 159th Street East.

The proposal will allow for commercial and residential development over five parcels of land at the 122-acre site. Right now, it’s mostly used for agriculture and ranching. There are two creeks and a communications tower on the property as well.
The biggest concern from neighbors was losing a hedgerow that currently provides privacy. The property owner says the hedgerow will be maintained but there may be some places where trees must be removed or trimmed back for placement of utilities and street work.
Another concern for a nearby resident was the planned expansion of Kellogg/U.S. 54 starting next year and fewer access points for construction equipment getting in and out of the development.
