A veteran cameraman for Fox News was killed while documenting Russia's invasion of Ukraine in an attack that also left one of the network's reporters injured.
Fox News confirmed the incident Tuesday, saying Pierre Zakrzewski died after his vehicle was struck by incoming fire in Horenka, northwest of Kyiv.
"It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we share the news this morning regarding our beloved cameraman Pierre Zakrzewski," Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott said in a statement.
"Pierre was a war zone photographer who covered nearly every international story for FOX News from Iraq to Afghanistan to Syria during his long tenure with us," Scott continued. "His passion and talent as a journalist were unmatched. Based in London, Pierre had been working in Ukraine since February."
Journalist Benjamin Hall was with Zakrzewski at the time of the attack, according to the network. He remains hospitalized in Ukraine, although the severity of his injuries is unknown.
"We have a minimal level of details right now, but Ben is hospitalized and our teams on the ground are working to gather additional information as the situation quickly unfolds," Scott said.
At this point, Fox News has no plans to pull other correspondents out of the war zone.
"The safety of our entire team of journalists in Ukraine and the surrounding regions is our top priority and of the utmost importance," Scott said. "This is a stark reminder for all journalists who are putting their lives on the line every day to deliver the news from a war zone."
The news comes just one day after American journalist Brent Renaud was killed while covering the invasion in Irpin, just west of Kyiv. The 50-year-old was fatally shot after crossing a checkpoint.
