Mike Lindell's Twitter comeback was short-lived.

The MyPillow CEO's Twitter account was permanently banned last year for spreading misinformation about the 2020 presidential election. But on Sunday, Lindell tried to make a new account.

"Hello everybody, I'M BACK ON TWITTER. My only account is @MikeJLindell! Please RT and FOLLOW to SPREAD THE WORD," he wrote, according to Newsweek.

Lindell also posted a video of himself confirming the account was authentic.

"All those other ones are fake accounts and they've been using my name out there, so we started this account," he said, according to Business Insider. "Please share with everybody you know, let everybody you know, so we can get the word out at Twitter in case they do take it down. Thanks a lot for helping out."

Within minutes of the posting, Lindell racked up more than 20,000 new followers, Newsweek reported.

But about three hours after the account appeared, it was suspended and all posts were removed.

A spokesperson for Twitter told the Associated Press that Lindell's new account was permanently suspended for violating its rules on ban evasion. The company's policy prohibits anyone from trying to skirt a previous ban by creating a new account.

Lindell was permanently banned from the social media platform in January 2021 for "repeated violations" of its civic integrity policy and spreading false claims about fraud in the presidential election.

Twitter's second ban of Lindell comes amid growing speculation that Elon Musk might institute different rules on the platform surrounding free speech now that the company officially accepted his $44 billion buyout.
